SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE: 988
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formally known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) offers 24/7 call, text and chat access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.
Who do I call for Medical advice when the clinic is closed?
If the problem is an emergency (stroke, severe accident, chest pain on someone at risk for a heart attack) then call 911. If you are pregnant, then call the OB Department at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano at (715)526-7180.
For any other advice, the nurse hotline is available.
What is the Nurse Hotline?
24-Hour Nurse Hotline: 1-866-540-6360
The Nurse Hotline is available by calling 1-866-540-6360. the nurses are all RNs (Registered Nurses) who have been specially trained in answering calls and giving advice about the best treatment for your concerns. They may advise you to go to the ER (Emergency Room) or follow-up with your doctor when the clinic is open. They also are able to page the Menominee Tribal Clinic doctor on-call for advice if they feel that is best. The operators at the ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano will no longer page the doctor on-call, so the best source of advice is the nurse hotline.
What should I do if my medication has run out?
If you are in need of medication on weekends and evenings, it is best to call the nurse hotline. If needed, they will contact the doctor on-call. Note that narcotic pain medicines or other high-risk medications are not called in on weekends or evenings. Please plan to pick up your medication at the Menominee Tribal Clinic before the weekends or tribal holidays to avoid going without your medications.
